The Heart

“This immense, unborn self is none other than the one consisting of the perception here among the vital functions. There, in that space within the heart, he lies- controller of all, the lord of all, the ruler of all!” –The Upanishads

“He who was born before heat, who before the waters was born, who has seen through living beings- Entering the cave of the heart, [one sees] him abiding there.”
-M. Upanishads

“I am in everyone’s heart as the Supersoul.”
-Bhagavad-Gita

“He [the Supersoul] is situated in everyone’s heart.”
-Bhagavad-Gita

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
-Gideons

“There is a light that shines beyond all things on earth, beyond us all, beyond the heavens, beyond the highest, the very highest heavens. This is the light that shines in our heart.”
-Chandogya Upanishad

“If one is to have enlightenment, one must treasure it up from the heart.”
-Chen Weiming, Tai Chi master

“With love all things are possible. With mindfulness, discipline, and devotion you may come to realize that your creator and your Christ presence are not outside of you, but dwell eternally inside your consciousness. . . . With confidence and ease, you can allow the birth of your ascending Christ consciousness that has been lying hidden in your hearts womb/tomb.”
-Anna, Grandmother of Jesus

“This Supreme Lord who pervades all existence, the true self of all creatures, may be realized through undivided love.”
-Bhagavad-Gita, tran. Easwaran

“Therefore, having been born in this transient and forlorn world, give all your love to me. Fill your mind with me, love me, serve me, worship me always. Seeking me in your heart, you will at last be united with me.” - Bhagavad-Gita, tran. Easwaran

“The only path that is right for you is the one that is already designed within you. To find this path you have to hear your own heart… While the small mind, in its fear, is rigid and controlling, the deeper part of you will begin to whisper the truth of your eternal safety and your Oneness with God, So listen to your heart. This is where your light is and your truth.”
-Emmanuel’s Book

“The followers of the Heart, knowers of the essence, do not consider other religion, just as bees who serve the blossom of the coral tree don’t seek to obtain other flowers.” -Kularnara Tantra

“When your Shakti is awakened, all the past impressions and karmas come out. That is why when you first receive Shaktipat, you sometimes feel very negative or very angry. You shouldn’t be afraid when you get to such a state; it happens because the Shakti is expelling all the karmas of countless lives. Sometimes when a person receives Shaktipat he begins either to laugh for hours on end with joy or to cry for hours with great grief.”
-Swami Muktananda, Kundalini, pg 29

“Now, this self is a dike, a divider, to keep these worlds from colliding with each other… Upon passing across this dike, therefore, a blind man turns out not to be blind, a wounded man turns out not to be wounded, and a sick man turns out not to be sick. Upon crossing this dike, therefore, one even passes from night into day, for, indeed, this world of Brahman is lit up once and for all.”
-Chandogya Upanishad, 8.4.1

“Put away other words, for this is the dike to the immortal. Where the veins come together like spokes, in it is that one, taking birth in many ways.”
-Mundaka Upanishad 2.1.5

“He has these veins called Hita. They are as fine as a hair split a thousandfold and are filled with white, blue, orange, green, and red fluid.”
–Brhadaranyaka Upanishad, 4.3.20

“He is the dike separating these worlds so they would not mingle with each other.”
–Brhadaranyaka Upanishad, 4.4.22

“The veins called Hita that are located in the heart are as fine as a hair split a thousand fold.”
-Brhadaranyaka Upanishad, 4.2.3

“When one sees him –both the high and the low; the knot of one’s heart is cut, all doubts are dispelled; and his works come to an end. In that high golden container is brahman, stainless and partless, the brilliant light of lights! This is what they know, those who know the self. There the sun does not shine nor the moon and the stars; there lightning does not shine, of the common fire need we speak! Him alone, as he shines, do all things reflect; this whole world radiates with his light.”
-Mundaka Upanishad

“My heart was cloven and there appeared a flower, and grace sprang up, and fruit from the Lord, For the highest one split me with his holy spirit, exposed my love for him and filled me with his love. His splitting of my heart was my salvation and I followed the way of his peace, the way of truth.”
-Odes of Solomon, The Other Bible

“My heart was raised and magnified in the love of the highest one that I might celebrate his name.”
–Odes of Solomon, The Other Bible

“The illuminator of our hearts
is coming,
the lamp of Light
brightening even those in darkness.
The true upraiser of the dead
is coming
to heal us.” -Prayer to Mani, Diverse Manichaean Documents, The Other Bible

“If someone says to you, ‘In the fortified city of the imperishable, our body, there is a lotus and in this lotus a tiny space: what does it contain that one should desire to know?’ You must reply: ‘As vast as this space without is the tiny space within your heart: heaven and earth are found in it, fire and air, sun and moon, lightning and the constellations, whatever belongs to you here below and all that doesn’t, all this is gathered in that tiny space within the heart.”
-Chandogya Upanishad 8.1.2-3
